Golden State Pathways Program

Advancing from Policy to Implementation

The Linked Learning Alliance champions the success of our state’s historic investment in college and career readiness—in partnership with all who share this aim. We collaborate with funders and policymakers and work directly with local pathway leaders and educators toward the GSPP goals we share for opportunity and economic mobility across California.

Linked Learning is a proven approach to education that prepares all young people for success.

Linked Learning helps you meet students where they are, while expanding their vision of what's possible. By design, Linked Learning engages young people during their decade of difference, between ages 14 to 24, when identities and aspirations are taking shape. Students gain the confidence and support they need to succeed in high school, and graduate fully prepared to pursue a full range of postsecondary options—especially the high-growth, high-opportunity careers of the future.

Real Connections for Real Life

About the Linked Learning Alliance

The Linked Learning Alliance builds real connections that matter in real life: between classroom learning and opportunity after school, among educators and employers eager to bring out the best of the next generation, and across communities working together toward equity and prosperity. We seek to transform existing systems so that they better serve young people and the future we create together.

Work-based learning—like job shadows, guest speaking engagements, internships, and more—play a powerful role in boosting student success in the classroom and as part of the future workforce. By design, work-based learning experiences take shape along a continuum—offering students the
opportunity to progress in their learning and skills, and employers a range of opportunities to engage at the level of commitment and interest right for them.

College and career pathway students reflect on the 2024–25 academic year and their aspirations for life after high school
October 2025 | Linked Learning Alliance

This year is pivotal as school communities across California translate $470 million in Golden State Pathways funding into action—building career-integrated, collegepreparatory learning experiences modeled on the Linked Learning approach. And with growing attention to postsecondary success and the next generation of California's workforce, the foundational K–12 years take on heightened importance.

Centering student voice remains mission critical. The Linked Learning Alliance surveys thousands of Linked Learning students statewide so their voices may drive this work. This document presents findings from the most recent academic year.
