Today, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) School Board unanimously approved a resolution to expand students’ access to work-based learning opportunities by requiring vendors that get contracts from LAUSD to offer high-quality work-based learning opportunities for students through the Linked Learning approach.

A new career pathways e-Portal will soon provide a centralized way to connect San Diego students to transformative hands-on work experiences.

The Orosi High School (OHS) Class of 2017 will be the first to include students from the Career Pathway Academy of Engineering and Green Technology.

One of the school districts deeply involved in high quality Linked Learning work and is using Linked Learning Certification and Linked Learning Analytics to continually improve pathway quality is Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

This fall has been a flurry of activity and inspiration. Over the last several weeks, the Linked Learning Alliance has traveled to Antelope Valley, Long Beach, and San Bernardino to honor the first pathways in California to earn Linked Learning Gold Certification. The best part is being with communities as they gather to celebrate: educators, industry partners, elected officials working together on a shared future—and students buoyed by their support.

On April 1, 2020, the Linked Learning Alliance held the first in what will be a series of facilitated online conversations for Linked Learning educators and district leaders across the state to discuss, listen, and collaborate on the circumstances they are dealing with in the face of school closures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students, teachers, and administrators are preparing for year-end assessments. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, assessments have become even more top of mind for those in education. In Pasadena Unified School District, students are still able to demonstrate their knowledge and skills thanks to the district’s commitment to transitioning their senior defenses to virtual settings.

Last week, the Linked Learning Alliance in partnership with Envision Learning Partners had the opportunity to sit down with two educators from Pasadena Unified School District to learn more about the virtual portfolio defense process taking place at their schools. We were joined by Sara Scribner, librarian at Marshall Fundamental School and Jim Goffred, librarian at Blair High School.
