Linked Learning Alliance Announces System-Level Co-Hosts for Linked Learning Convention 2018

Sacramento, CA — The Linked Learning Alliance today announced that eight agencies and multi-state networks are co-hosts of the Linked Learning Convention, which will be held February 12-14 in Anaheim, CA.

“The organizations co-hosting the Linked Learning Convention are leaders in expanding pathways of opportunity for young people,” said David Rattray, Executive Vice President at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Linked Learning Alliance Board of Directors. “By sharing perspectives and tapping their networks, this formidable group of system-level co-hosts will help make the Linked Learning Convention 2018 an incredibly impactful opportunity to network, learn, and collaborate. Anyone interested in preparing students for college, career and life so they can thrive in today’s economy and be prepared for successful futures should attend this event.”

The 2018 Systems-Level Linked Learning Convention co-hosts are:

National Co-Hosts

  • Pathways to Prosperity Network: a multi-state network that seeks to ensure that many more youth complete high school, attain postsecondary credentials with currency in the labor market, and launch careers while leaving open the prospect of further education.
  • US Chamber of Commerce Foundation: an organization dedicated to strengthening America’s long-term competitiveness by educating the public on the conditions necessary for business and communities to thrive, how business positively impacts communities, and emerging issues and creative solutions that will shape the future.
  • Advance CTE: a national non-profit that represents State Directors and state leaders responsible for secondary, postsecondary and adult Career Technical Education (CTE) across all 50 states and U.S. territories.

California Statewide Co-Hosts

  • California Department of Education: the agency responsible for overseeing California’s diverse public school system, enforcing education law and regulations, and continuing to reform and improve public school programs.
  • California State University: the nation’s largest four-year public university system, with 23 campuses and eight off-campus centers.
  • California Community Colleges Chancellor’s office: The California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the nation, with 2.1 million students attending 114 colleges. Our colleges provide students with the knowledge and background necessary to compete in today’s economy. With a wide range of educational offerings, the colleges provide workforce training, basic courses in English and math, certificate and degree programs and preparation for transfer to four-year institutions.
  • California Workforce Development Board: a state board that assists the Governor in setting and guiding policy in the area of workforce development.
  • Foundation for California Community Colleges: a foundation that supports the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, and the entire California Community College system.

The co-hosts will support content development for the Convention and will provide input to ensure that the Linked Learning Convention programing is significant and informative for the expanding Linked Learning field.

The Annual Linked Learning Convention is an opportunity for educators, employers, nonprofits, and policymakers to learn, collaborate, and build relationships that will help expand high-quality Linked Learning for students in communities across California and the country. In 2017, more than 800 participants attended the Linked Learning Convention which featured over 90 breakout sessions.
