a blueprint for preparing learners

As California makes historic investments in transforming education and workforce systems, the Linked Learning framework is core to that work. The Alliance and our community of partners bring what few organizations can: decades of practical experience, a robust body of evidence, and deep relationships across hundreds of California communities. We help connect learning across systems, share what works, and ensure these investments create the greatest possible value for students, communities, and California’s future.

SCHOOL REDESIGN

The Alliance and six partner Linked Learning districts are part of California’s $10 million Secondary School Redesign Pilot—bringing to the cohort the only established statewide collaborative with a track record of measurable impact. The pilot is moving California’s secondary schools away from factory-model institutions toward student-centered environments that build strong relationships and develop the durable skills young people need for college, career, and life. Linked Learning—with its emphasis on rigorous academics, work-based learning, and personalized support—is one of the pilot’s core approaches.

GOLDEN STATE PATHWAYS

California’s $450 million Golden State Pathways Program is investing in career pathway practices built on quality standards that the Alliance helped define with experienced Linked Learning practitioners. The Alliance is lead partner to the State Technical Assistance Center and several Regional TACs—helping ensure the program delivers on its promise. As GSPP unfolds, we advocate for three essentials: quality implementation grounded in the program's evidence-based framework; coherence between pathway elements and high-skill, high-opportunity careers; and accountability through data systems and independent evaluation.
