A statement from the Linked Learning Alliance on Governor Newsom's 2021-2020 January Budget.

With most schools opening virtually, more than 1 million California young people without access to internet, devices at home struggle to access college- and career-focused virtual learning experiences.

It is with profound soundness that we share with the Linked Learning field news about the passing of Joan Bissell, one of our greatest leaders and champions, on September 11, 2020. Joan leaves a legacy that will continue to have a lasting impact on students’ lives - the future leaders of California and our nation.

The Linked Learning Alliance conducted a survey of juniors and seniors in seven key Linked Learning districts to learn more about the impact of COVID-19 on their education and futures. The Alliance is proud to release these results and share brief reflection on the results.

Last week, the Linked Learning Alliance in partnership with Envision Learning Partners had the opportunity to sit down with two educators from Pasadena Unified School District to learn more about the virtual portfolio defense process taking place at their schools. We were joined by Sara Scribner, librarian at Marshall Fundamental School and Jim Goffred, librarian at Blair High School.

Last week the Alliance convened its second virtual conversation with Linked Learning educators and administrators to better understand how schools are moving from planning to implementation in delivering integrated, high-quality college and career experiences remotely.
