Digital badges offer a unique way to visualize skills and qualifications students gain beyond the traditional diploma. These badges incorporate criteria set by employers for what skills and knowledge are students need to succeed in various sectors of the workforce. Industry badges are desired to be specific to the sector a Linked Learning pathway is aligned with.
Health Care is the first industry sector to have digital badges featured on certification. Developed in partnership with and endorsed by Sutter Health, there are now two badges available for health pathways to pursue on Linked Learning Certification. The badges validate that students in these pathways are prepared for the health care workforce. By earning these badges the pathways qualify their students for 1) internship placement preference, 2) financial support to take the Medical Assisting State Exam, and 3) scholarship eligibility.
