San Bernardino City Unified School District recognized for reaching highest standards in college and career preparation

Today we make a great stride forward in meeting the California public education system’s goal of preparing all students for college and career. Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed into law AB 1240, which updates the definition of “pupil achievement” that schools report in their Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs) in an important way.

Charged with finding new ideas for increasing college completion in the Central and San Joaquin Valleys and Inland Empire, the new Council for Post-Secondary Education has an important responsibility—and a remarkable opportunity—to tackle issues at the core of our state’s dismal postsecondary completion rates.

The Linked Learning Alliance congratulates California Governor-elect Gavin Newsom, incoming Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and incoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond on their successful campaigns and pledges to work with all three leaders to advance college and career success and educational justice for all California students.

The California State Legislature has approved AB 3188 by Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) and sent the measure to Gov. Jerry Brown.

The Learning Learning Alliance applauds the reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Act, an important funding source for the Linked Learning field working to ensure high quality pathway implementation.
