Hernán is the Manager of External Relations. He brings a breadth of experience and passion for education, program management, and communications in the public and nonprofit sectors. Hernán has consistently advocated for low-income and BIPOC communities to thrive economically. Prior to joining the Alliance, he managed environmental education and workforce development initiatives, including the California Climate Action Corps program with the Office of the Governor for over 250 youth and early-career professionals. In addition, Hernán has worked directly with teachers and students to implement project-based learning and create convening spaces to reimagine career preparation for 21st century skills.
Hernán is a proud Linked Learning alum, having graduated from a health pathway in Oakland, CA. He received a B.A. in Environmental Policy and a French minor from Pitzer College. He most recently obtained a Certificate in Asana Project Management from the University of San Diego and holds a global CAPM certification with the Project Management Institute.
