Albion Sumrell is the Research and Policy Analyst. He is a practitioner-scholar who values conducting useful research that directly leads to improving the educational outcomes of marginalized communities. Prior to joining the Alliance, he has worked with schools, colleges, and non-profits as a consultant, administrator, teacher, counselor, and advisor. In these roles, he was involved in managing and evaluating programming that support youth and adults with college and career guidance. Albion was inspired to become an educator during high school after serving as a Teaching Fellow for Breakthrough Collaborative, which is a national, multi-year enrichment program that builds a path from middle school to college for under-resourced youth. Most recently, he returned to Breakthrough New Orleans to serve as the Executive Director, leading the organization in redeveloping its high school program with a combined focus on college and career readiness.

Albion received his B.A. in Psychology and French Studies from Emory University and his M.Ed. in School Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. He recently graduated with his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans. His dissertation research focused on the influence of CTE and work experience on preparing high school seniors to pursue careers, which aligns with the transformative work of Linked Learning Alliance.
